Worldwind Music based in Lenham, UK is the home for of Trevor James woodwind instruments, a highly successfully specialist flute and saxophone brand distributed to 53 countries. Worldwind Music evolved from Trevor J. James & Co. at the end of 2007.

Trevor James instruments were originally designed and introduced by Trevor James himself into the UK in the early 1980’s. 25 years later, the brand has grown in to one of the World’s most respected student and Conservatory woodwind instrument names.

Created in 1991 as the catch phrase of probably the most successful flute poster of all time, ‘Aspiring to greater heights’ encapsulates our commitment to improvement and growth. Never satisfied, we constantly research the market place and have an ongoing programme of dialogue with players and teachers around the World to ensure that we retain our status as innovators. To date, we have printed and distributed 125,000 ‘Aspiring to greater heights’ posters around the world!

Contrary to the many new and mass produced music shop ‘own’ label brands, Trevor James instruments are the result of 25 years of teacher discussions, player testing, performance and quality of manufacture. We have only one measurable when the instruments leave our workshops – the satisfaction of the musician!

Despite our worldwide success, we still ensure that we retain individuality for each instrument by our unique Guarantee document included with every instrument. This booklet not only describes basic care and maintenance advice but also includes a unique numbering code so that we can track which member of the technical staff set-up and checked the instrument prior to despatch. Every instrument therefore has a final name attached to it and has an individuality not found in any other student and Conservatory manufacturer. Our technical workshop and R&D teams are composed of musicians and experienced specialist repairers.

The craftsmanship that goes into a P.Mauriat saxophone is second to none. Our French brass, used in combination with other metals is super resonant because of the extensive hand hammering process it undergoes in our factory. A single saxophone body will be hammered as many as 400 times before it moves on to some one else’s expert hands for the final shaping. Each tone hole is drawn from the saxophone one by one to ensure the precision and consistency required for excellent response and intonation. Our lacquer is applied in three stages to the vintage saxophones to achieve a timeless look that will last through the years. Finally, the hand engraving is masterfully accomplished with nothing other than a simple hand held tool and years of experience.
