Craig Barney

French Horn Instruction

Mr. Barney has a bachelor of arts in music from Evangel University. He is also a certified TESL teacher. His love for music came at an earlier age through hearing the inspiring sounds of film scores, Sousa Marches, and marching bands performances during college football games. This passion for music gave Mr. Barney the desire to learn the French Horn. In 5th grade he started his personal journey with music.
As Mr. Barney continued in his musical journey he pursued colleges with marching bands. Due to his final choice of University not having a marching band, Mr. Barney didn’t settle but rather joined the Missouri State marching band while attending EU. While Mr. Barney was apart of the Missouri State marching band he had the opportunity to travel to the Greater St. Louis Marching Festival and also to London to perform in the New Years Day Parade. Mr. Barney’s devotion to music drove him to also participate in Evangel University’s instrumental ensembles including: Jazz Band, Concert Orchestra, University Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, and University Band. During his time with Evangel University’s concert orchestra he traveled to 33 states and 12 countries having the chance to perform on a Canadian TV show called 100 Huntley Street.
Over the last three years Mr. Barney has alternated at Lebanon High School band as the French horn instructor and trumpet specialist under the direction of Keith Ruether. He has also worked with Laura Mudge and the Pleasant Hope High School band. Currently Mr. Barney teaches trumpet and French horn at Pleasant Hope High School. Mr. Barney one day aspires to go back to school for his Masters in Education so he can continue instilling the value of music in others through teaching music history on the collegiate level.
