Randy Buckner
Private guitar, banjo, mandolin and Ukulele instruction.
I teach guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and banjo in my studio - which is located at Hoover Music, Jefferson and Elm, in downtown Springfield, Mo. If you live outside of the Springfield metro area, I also offer lessons online via Skype.
On the Guitar:
I teach all styles (finger-picking and pick) and all levels of guitar. I can show you how to play country, jazz, blues, or rock. I keep the lessons fun and stress-free: I teach what you want to learn - whether it's how to read music, play chords, songs, or whatever works for you.
On the Banjo, Ukulele, and the Mandolin:
I can teach you backup patterns, songs, and chords - it's up to you what we work on during the lesson.
About the Lessons:
Lessons are person-to-person instruction.
I keep lessons fun, while helping you, or your child, realize the full potential of your musical goals. Lessons are tailored to fit the needs of the individual student - I am not a cookie-cutter type of an instructor. As part of the lessons, I have PDF files of lesson materials to email to students, as well as video files of me demonstrating lessons and musical concepts.
Fees are $18 per half hour - you can pay by the week or month - whichever is more convenient for you.
About Me:
I started playing guitar in 1973 when my father taught me how to play in the style of Chet Atkins. I studied jazz at Middle Tennessee State University, and also communication at Missouri State University.
I have played in jazz and country bands, and recently was the guitarist in the local rock band, "Pat Pending". I have also performed on stage with Duck Baker, Eddie Pennington, Steve Kaufman, Merle Travis, and others.
I have been a finalist in two national thumbpicking competitions.
Springfield, Mo. has been my home since childhood - with the exception of four years spent in Nashville for college. I'm married, and have two children.
