Low Brass Instruction

Baritone, Euphonium, Trombone, Tuba, and Bass Trumpet

Jennifer Jester

I teach lessons for beginner through advanced players on all low brass instruments. I have a doctorate in euphonium performance, and have actively been playing, performing, and teaching since 1998. If you live outside of the metro area, I also can offer lessons online via Skype or FaceTime. Springfield is my hometown, and after 17 year I’ve returned to share what I’ve learned to the Springfield community!

Low Brass Lessons

I can teach any style of brass from classical to jazz to rock. If you need help with fundamentals, state or district solo and ensemble contest preparation, all-state or all-district auditions, college preparation, or are just wanting to improve on your instrument, I can be of service! I am a relaxed and stress-free teacher and work with each student’s learning style. I am a goal oriented teacher, and help students create a plan of action to keep moving forward and be motivated with practice.

Music Business and Performance Consultations

My background in music is extremely varied, and I also am a business person and have been teaching music business related courses on the college level for several years. If you are interested in consultation on career path, starting a business in music, improving your music business, creating a show, or improving your stage presence, and working through performance anxiety, I work with people individually on these facets of music as well.

About Me

I started playing music at the age of 3 on piano, and since then have learned to play and sing a myriad of instruments such as euphonium, trombone, bass trumpet, tuba, string bass, guitar, African drums, and cajon. I have performed professionally around the United States with the River City Brass Band as a euphonium player, and have performed with many ensembles such as the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Fort Smith Symphony, CPR Orchestra, and have even shown up in an off Broadway production of Tarantella! In my spare time, I am owner and manager of School of Rock Springfield, teach music business, history of rock n roll classes, and euphonium at Missouri State University. And am currently pursuing a music therapy credential at Drury University. My teachers were Sam Pilafian at Arizona State University, James Miller at California Institute for the Arts, and the late Tommy Johnson and Doug Tornquist at UCLA.
